Over 20 Years of Representing Good People Facing Serious Charges

I have been practicing criminal defense in Oregon for over 20 years. In that time I have learned that the foundation of any successful case is the relationship a client has with their lawyer. To best serve each of my clients I strictly limit the number if cases I accept. I also focus my practice on the defense of serious and complex cases. This approach allows me to maximize the effectiveness of my advocacy for each client I serve.

Give me a call or drop me an email. I never charge for an initial discussion. It is important that you and I talk freely about you and your case before we can make a decision about whether or not I am a good fit for you or your case. I am always happy to make an appropriate referral if we feel another lawyer would be best for your situation.

Areas of Practice

FEDERAL CRIMINAL DEFENSE

I have been practicing federal criminal defense in the District of Oregon since 2003. Federal criminal cases tend to be more serious, more complicated, and lengthier than their state court counterparts. If you have been charged with a crime in federal court, be sure to speak to an attorney who practices regularly in federal court.

STATE CRIMINAL DEFENSE

I have been practicing criminal defense in state courts throughout Oregon since 1997. State court criminal defense practice varies widely county by county in Oregon. I practice primarily in the Portland metro area which includes Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties. If you have been charged with a serious offense in state court, make sure any attorney you consider retaining has the experience necessary to defend you properly.

PRE-CHARGE INVESTIGATIONS

Many of my cases begin before formal criminal charges are brought. Oftentimes search warrants may be executed at a client's home or business. Sometimes clients receive a letter or even a knock at the door. The IRS, FBI, DEA, Homeland Security or even local police inform them that they are the target of an investigation or simply wish to talk. In such a situation it is imperative that you first speak to an attorney familiar with the type of investigation being investigated.

“In the last analysis, our every right is only worth what our lawyer makes it worth.”
